A Bit of History...

Making things has been part of my existence as long as I can remember.  My parents supplied my sister and me with construction paper, scissors, glue, paint,...basic art supplies that engaged us in the act of creating for hours at a time.  (Thanks Mom and Dad!)

After high school, I pursued a career in art education at Winona State University (Winona, MN) and spend my free time continuing to make things.  My masters degree program at Mankato State University (Mankato, MN,), required a one-person art exhibit with corresponding brochure.  That experience combined my themed work of "Farmsteads," using pencil drawings and acrylic paintings.

Backing up a bit....my inspirations:

My Dad was born on a farm near Trempealeau, Wisconsin and visits to that area througout my life deeply impacted my aesthetic.  It was the obvious choice for me to use farmsteads as my subject matter with traditional pencil, watercolor or acrylic paint.

My family took numerous trips to the North Shore of Lake Superior and water became a favorite subject.  More experimentation in color and style entered in to my work.

And, in this early grouping, my travels to New Mexico influenced my subjects matter choices.  I also, revisited older black and white photos that I had taken while in college in Winona Minnesota to recreate nostalgic memories.

And then, I stopped painting for decades.  I did not, however, stop thinking and learning.
